Thirty years ago, life at Sampsistemi USA was a different affair compared to the way the company presently operates. At the outset this facility was not even called Sampsistemi; rather, it was called MacDraw Inc., an identity derived from a combination of the name of the parent company Maccaferri and drawing machines. However, the biggest difference between past and present is that 30 years ago, there were only 3 employees. Today, there are 15.
The establishment of the Sampsistemi subsidiary in Williamsport,MD in 1976 was a significant strategic decision by the executive management at Sampsistemi and the Maccaferri Industrial Group, who were both very supportive of the new company from the beginning. The U.S. team focused very hard on achieving early successes in the North American market which was ready to invest and take advantage of modern and innovative wire drawing technology. This involved extraordinary amounts of work and dedication by Sampsistemi USA, but, as positive results were gradually achieved, everyone remained motivated.
