Flexibility is the key when it comes to modern lines for the production of automotive cables.
In fact, state-of-the-art stock management concepts are changing the way harness producers work, and batches are progressively decreasing in size.
Automotive cables are generally soft; made of copper; traditionally sheathed in PVC, apart from engine compartment cables for hot environments where reticulated polythene is preferable; and they come in a wide variety of base colours with characteristic coloured identification stripes. This base / stripe colour combination makes it possible to identify each single conductor within a particular harness.
Modern cars contain a large amount of cabling, which, over the past 50 years, has increased from around 70 to an incredible1500 metres per car. As automotive conductors are nearly always coloured, suppliers of wire manufacturing equipment have developed sheathing lines with integrated colour change systems, enabling producers to insulate conductors using different colour combinations at very high speeds. Sampsistemi is at the forefront in this field, and not only is colour change fast on our lines, but scrap levels are minimal (only a few tens of metres).
Sampsistemi lines comprise dual flyer cone payoffs to unwind copper conductors, with sections normally ranging between 0.20 mm2 and 6 mm2; extrusion groups comprising 2, 3 or 4 extruders depending on your colour change technology; extrusion heads with automatic colour change units; multipass cooling troughs; and various take-up solutions to collect insulated wire.
A line supervisor can be supplied to manage your whole line. With special line management software programmed into the control unit, data received from the measuring equipment, such as diameter, eccentricity, jacket thickness and cable length, is elaborated, making management of automatic small batch production simple.
As a standard, our wire take-ups wind jacketed cables onto 300 mm coils, in 600 mm baskets or onto collapsible plastic reels, ready to feed your harness production lines. Sampsistemi can, however, supply lines for any type of packaging requirement.
